About TaxAssist Accountants:

TaxAssist Accountants are the largest network of accountants who focus their accountancy skills specifically on small businesses and taxpayers needing a tax return in the UK. We specialise in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, tax savings and tax advice to small businesses and individuals.  Our North East practice serves over 400 clients including; Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited Companies and Personal Tax Payers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

You will need to be able to prepare the sole trader and limited company accounts.  The practice has been operating for 7 years and has established processes in place, along with access to excellent ongoing training & technical support in all aspects of the role.

You will be 100% client facing and take on a portfolio of new and existing clients to manage.  You will also have the opportunity to go out and network, building relationships and ultimately to win new business.

The role includes the following duties and therefore you are required to have technical experience in:

  • Preparing Ltd Company management accounts, year-end accounts and preferably but not essentially Corporation Tax Returns.
  • Preparing VAT Returns along with Online Submission.
  • Assisting and training other members of staff.

Any new training will be provided in learning the practice software, however, experience with accounting and tax software such as Sage Accounts Production, CCH Central and Quickbooks Online will be an advantage but not essential.

Candidate Requirements:

You will have proven accounts and taxation experience and will have worked in practice for a number of years. You must have relevant and recent small practice experience and be used to working on your own initiative. Ideally, you will be qualified or studying towards ACCA/CA, or hold an accountancy degree. However, we would also welcome your application if you are qualified by experience.

You must have a good working knowledge of accounts preparation and computations of taxes with the ability to hit the ground running and assist with complex tasks. As a successful candidate you will also have:

• The ability to develop strong client/colleague relationships,

• Exceptional communication/presentation skills,

• Drive & ambition with a high focus towards customer service.

You will also have a sound knowledge of accounting principles and strong business acumen. Your tax knowledge should be up to date and you will need good IT skills.

You must have good people skills, be highly organised and be able to work unsupervised to strict deadlines. You must have a good command of the English language (both spoken and written) as the job involves writing of technical emails to clients.

Salary Range:  Salary dependant on experience plus Bonus and Profit Share
