Here at Ofwat, our multi-disciplinary team is rapidly expanding to meet the needs of the 5 year price review cycle. This major programme of work provides the framework for a resilient long-term future for water, providing more of what matters to customers at a price they can afford and are willing to pay.
We have some exciting opportunities for experienced Finance Analysts. These are fixed term appointments (until March 2020) where you will play a central role in the delivery of our next industry price review and help shape our future work programmes.
As a Senior Associate, you would play an important part in the delivery of our strategy with particular focus on determining the appropriate risk and return package that will underpin the price determinations we will set in 2019. The role will be to support the work-stream that is responsible for determining the cost of capital (including cost of debt, cost of equity and gearing), ensuring the price determinations we set are financeable and ensuring the financial rewards and penalties that underpin regulatory financial incentives deliver the proposed policy objectives. In particular, this may include looking at the ownership and financing structures of the companies we regulate, supporting our work to monitoring the financial performance and resilience of the regulated companies and work in connection with any mergers or changes in ownership which may occur.
Educated to degree or post-graduate level in a relevant discipline, you’ll be highly numerate with strong analytical skills. We would particularly like experience with any of the following: developing and using financial indicators to monitor the performance and financial stability of companies, reading and interpreting financial data, experienced using Excel and presenting complex information to a wide audience, writing high quality documents as well as excellent stakeholder management skills.
These roles are offered on a fixed term contract with a salary of £32,687 - £48,890 at Senior Associate level. In addition, we offer a substantial benefits package including 25 days holiday plus 10 ½ bank holiday and privilege leave days per annum among other benefits. While you will be based from either our Birmingham or London office (please specify your preference at application) with a requirement to travel to the other office as required, we do operate a truly flexible and agile working culture with all of the IT/infrastructure (including a Surface Pro and iPhone 7) to enable you to work efficiently where and when needed.
