Falkland Islands Government

Head of Tax

Salary – to £54,000 + 25% end of contract payment + flights + relocation

The Falkland Islands Government is seeking a Head of Tax, for a two year contract initially.  This is a unique opportunity that will make a major contribution to the ongoing success of a small but busy team at the heart of the Government in the South Atlantic. It offers the chance to work in a diverse natural environment with interesting international and domestic tax challenges.

The post-holder will be responsible for running the Taxation office as a Head of Service, developing and implementing domestic legislation contained within the Taxes Ordinance of the Falkland Islands. This will include the development and operation of systems to administer and collect Corporation Tax and Income Tax, leading tax policy initiatives to support the Islands Plan of the Government and reviewing tax legislation, proposing amendments where required.

The successful applicant will be a Chartered Tax Adviser, a fully qualified CCAB accountant, a member of the Association of Tax Technicians or have completed HMRC’s Tax Development Programme or other equivalent qualification. Significant relevant work experience in a tax environment is also required.

The appointment will be for a two year fixed term initially, with option for extension by mutual agreement.  We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include substantially lower taxes than the UK, eligibility for a 25% gratuity upon satisfactory completion of the contract, a relocation grant and a yearly flight package to the country of recruitment for successful applicant and any qualifying family members who accompany them to take up the post.

If you are looking for a new challenge which offers a once in a lifetime experience for professional development and personal enjoyment then this could be the role for you!

Completed application forms should be returned to recruitment@sec.gov.fk
