Head of Finance Operations

University of Warwick

Warwick Manufacturing Group

Competitive Salary

Are you a finance professional with the ability to coordinate large, complex and multi-party projects?

Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) at the University of Warwick is seeking to appoint a Head of Finance (Operations) to join its rapidly expanding team. As part of a large team the role would provide support to the Director of Administration (Finance) on the construction of financial business plans and large complex collaborative programmes, including project contractual and organisational arrangements.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate post qualification commercial accounting experience at a significant level and be able to negotiate major contracts.  In addition, you should have well developed interpersonal and communication skills, and considerable experience of working at a senior level.

The salary package on offer includes access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days annual leave plus 4 customary days as well as statutory holidays and additional benefits.

Reporting to the Director of Administration (Finance), you will act as Head of Finance (Operations) for WMG, leading the staff in the finance team on a day to day basis and acting as a point of contact to Academics, Administrators, other University departments and external partner organisations.  You will take responsibility for the evaluation of financial plans, risk assessments, sensitivity analysis and proposal of solutions, providing accurate and timely financial information and advice to the Director of Administration (Finance) and the University to aid planning, control and decision-making.

The successful candidate will act as a trouble-shooter, carrying out ad hoc investigations leading to improvements in the financial reporting systems, or developing plans or assisting in the preparation of long term strategies.

You will also be responsible for preparing written reports and presentations on major proposals for key committees, representing WMG both internally and externally, along with co-ordinating inputs from a range of functional areas and produce oral and written advice to the WMG Senior Management Team on specific topics as required.
