Job Title: Head of Commercial Finance
Reporting to: CFO
Function: Commercial Finance team

Purposes of Role / Role Context:
* Lead the monthly analysis and reporting processes providing insightful analysis to the Board, and other senior management
* Gain a detailed understanding and insight into a portfolio of business units, contributing to the achievement of financial performance targets through high quality analysis, investment appraisal and commercial support
* A key member of the group finance team with extensive interaction across Business Units and with senior management

Key Areas of Responsibility:
* Lead the delivery of clear monthly reporting and results analysis
* Gain a detailed understanding and insight into a portfolio of business units
* Detailed analysis to understand KPIs and trends, challenge business performance, and improve forecasting accuracy, contributing to the achievement of financial performance targets
* Drive detailed analysis of variances and action planning. Assess performance against target and external investor guidance parameters
* Prepare high quality monthly reports to the Board, and other senior management
* Work closely with the Investor Relations team on quarterly updates to the investor community, half yearly investor results press releases and presentations, the annual report and other ad hoc requests
* Support the CFO in driving the forecasting and annual planning cycle requirements, and challenging and assessing to ensure that business plans are robust
* Drive cost accountability through challenge and timely insights into the reporting of central costs
* Develop quality, easy to maintain reports to challenge business performance and forecasting and maintain strong data management disciplines
* Support the ongoing evolution and transformation of the finance function across the group and evolve all processes to drive efficiency improvements, formality and robustness
* Foster a close partnering mentality with colleagues and peers across the finance community and develop a "one-process" outlook
* Other ad-hoc initiatives as required

Person Specification - the successful candidate will be and have:
* Minimum 6 years' experience in a complex commercial function and/or role
* Detailed experience with performance management and analysis, including reporting to senior stakeholders and practical exposure to annual budgeting processes
* Experience of working with Senior Directors
* Communication skills - both written and spoken - need to be of the highest level
* Strong inclination for getting out and talking to people to drive initiatives and understanding
* Excellent analytical skills, interpret trends whilst appreciating commercial drivers and preparing high quality and insightful commentary
* Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and finance systems interrogation skills
* Degree qualified with an internationally recognised accounting qualification such as ACA or CIMA
* Comfortable in a dynamic and changing environment
* Ability to work under pressure during key periods

£75,000 - 85,000 depending on experience

Target based bonus up to 10%
