They are looking for a new trainee financial paraplanner, someone who needs the right opportunity to show them what they can do. A paraplanner is a highly skilled and knowledgeable role which supports the work of a financial planner and would be expected to achieve the same knowledge as a qualified financial planner.

Although they often recruit experienced graduates for their trainee roles, attitude and ability can be more important than existing knowledge so they are also considering those who have recently graduated, those who have started a university education but are looking for alternative options or even those in a related job or a returner to work.

Salary Range

Starting salary would be from £16k to £20k depending upon skills and qualifications with regular pay rises for progress. This job offers intensive on-the-job training and you would also begin study for specific financial planning exams - the Diploma in Financial Planning (funded by us after passing your 3 month probationary period). Passing this qualification would equip you for a career as a professional financial paraplanner and you would ideally progress to studying to be a Chartered Financial Planner, the highest qualification possible in financial services.

What does the job involve?

Initially you would learn how all financial products work and how they fit together into a client's financial plan; for example, assets such as ISAs, investment bonds, mutual funds, pension plans, bank accounts and also liabilities such as mortgages and debts. You would learn about tax, trusts and investment concepts and how these are used to improve a client's financial situation as well as how to communicate on a professional level with high worth clients in writing and verbally.

You would be trained on:
  • Their client management system which holds records of every financial detail for their clients
  • Their client financial planning software which they use to create a computerised financial model of their clients' wealth until the end of their lifetimes
  • Their investment analysis system which analyses the detail behind how their clients' money is invested by them

You would also learn how to prepare correspondence to clients, take instructions on how to change their investments, take notes during client meetings, execute changes to arrangements and draft strategy reports.
