  • Be the first point of contact for all general Finance related queries

  • Process all purchase orders and invoices on MSF Finance System and ensure MSF complies with the authorisation levels, as prescribed within the MSF’s financial procedures

  • Scan all invoices and check against all purchase orders

  • Record all Donor cheque receipts, updating accurately on the accounting system within specified time liaising with the Fundraising team, as required

  • Process all expense claims on MSF Finance System ensuring that all the necessary supporting documents are attached and authorised by the relevant budget holder

  • Reconcile purchase ledger with supplier statements, ensuring that all differences are fully investigated and resolved.

  • Monitor and control aged debtors for MSF UK and Ireland

  • Process and reconcile all MSF Ireland bank accounts

  • Maintain the office petty cash box.

  • Manage cash advances and expense reimbursements

  • Record the petty cash transactions on the accounting system, reconciling petty cash accounts monthly.

  • Monitor and review the Irish petty cash data and upload into the accounting system

  • Maintain an organised and up-to-date filing system

  • Manage financial administration procedures and improve processes

  • Assist the team with cash counting and banking

  • Raise orders and commitments for stock and services

  • Check and follow-up all outstanding orders

  • Assist in making statistical returns, as required

  • Provide advice and guidance to staff and others on issues

  • Assist in the monitoring of the budget

  • Assist budget holders with budget/expenditure

  • Maintain and update all hard copy records and electronic databases/systems

  • Perform ad hoc accounting duties

  • Contribute to the successful achievement of team plans by organising and prioritising workloads

  • Understand the nature of this role and to ensure confidentiality

  • Undertake any other tasks that are appropriate to the post and to reflect the needs of MSF UK and Ireland

  • Maintain good professional relationships with other departments and also providing a high-quality service

  • Excellent Time Management skills and be able to use their own initiative

  • Proficient in IT packages

  • Previous experience in finance administration working at the appropriate level of responsibility

  • Previous experience in using PS Financials accounting software

  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to deal with people at a variety of levels

  • Good time management and planning skills, and proven ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Proven ability to adapt solutions and working methods to organisational needs

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Flexibility to take on other related tasks

  • Commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières


  • Working toward part qualified or AAT qualified currently studying towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
