Robert Half are exclusively working with a Manufacturing and Engineering company based in the Portsmouth area. This family owned business has recently been bought out and this this role has been newly created. This is the number 1 role for finance and manages a small team working with the Business unit general manager.


As the number 1 in Finance reporting to the group you will be tasked with running the finance department and supporting the General Manager with any strategic decisions. With a unique business model this role offers autonomy and is looking for someone with commercial strength to further grow the business.

Duties include:
  • Team Management
  • Annual budget preparation
  • Analysis- Variances against budget, debtors, KPI's, overhead spend
  • Analysis to forecast the performance of the business against budget to aid decision making
  • Market intelligence to facilitate strategy and budgets
  • Supporting the Project managers and understand and business partner with the projects
  • Perform quarterly project reviews to ensure performance of projects and asses versus forecast and budgets
  • Ensure all monthly and quarterly reporting is completed
  • Preparation of statutory accounts - IFRS 102 to IFRS
  • Lead the year end audit
  • VAT returns
  • CIS returns


You will be ACCA/ ACA or CIMA newly qualified or qualified looking for the number 1 role in Finance for a business unit. The group of companies offers significant autonomy and for you to work with and support the General Manager daily. You will have live projects to run and support including implementation of ERP system and group reporting standards.

You will ideally have WIP/ Project/ contract experience, or strong knowledge of project accounting.


Working for a FSTE 100 business, being the Number 1 in Finance for a local business unit based in Portsmouth. Reporting to the general manager and Group CFO. Open plan office overseeing a very self reliant team, allowing you to get involved in projects and supporting the General manager.

Salary & Benefits
