University of Manchester
Competitive salary plus benefits
The University of Manchester is part of the prestigious Russell Group of universities, with outstanding facilities and the widest range of courses. We are highly respected across the globe as a centre of teaching excellence and innovative research. We are proud of our history of world firsts and brilliant discoveries, from splitting the atom to isolating graphene. We are committed to world-class research, an outstanding learning and student experience, and social responsibility in everything we do. Aiming to become one of the world’s leading universities by 2020, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Faculty Finance with an initial portfolio for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health.
As a full member of the Faculty senior leadership team, the Head of Faculty Finance will participate with peers in decision making in order to support the achievement of Faculty and University objectives and will take ownership and prime responsibility for the development and achievement of the Faculty financial strategy through sound and sustainable financial management.
You will lead the Faculty finance function, establishing and delivering a responsive, modern and strategic finance service, which provides financial strategy and leadership, and ensures effective financial management and compliance. As a member of the Finance Directorate’s senior leadership team, the Head of Finance will participate in the development and delivery of the University’s strategic goals.
The Head of Faculty Finance will have significant experience in a senior financial leadership role in a large, complex, devolved organisation including experience of developing strategic planning models, and raising strategic issues for debate. You will have the ability to lead, manage, develop and motivate a professional team along with the proven ability to challenge the status quo, make positive, effective changes and obtain results against a background of cultural inertia.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as black and minority ethnic (BME) candidates are currently under-represented at this level in this area, we would particularly welcome applications from BME applicants. All appointments will be made on merit.
