Want to influence the affordability of a service used by 23 million households across England and Wales?

Want to use your skills to ensure that customers have a voice and receive a service that’s innovative, resilient and meets their needs?

Looking for a challenging role that’s professionally fulfilling AND provides development and growth as well as an excellent addition to your CV?

We’ve got just the job for you - join us as a Finance Analyst!

Here at Ofwat, our multi-disciplinary team is rapidly expanding to meet the needs of the 5 year price review cycle. This major programme of work provides the framework for a resilient long-term future for water, providing more of what matters to customers at a price they can afford and are willing to pay.

We have a range of exciting opportunities for experienced Finance and Accounting professionals at both Senior Associate and Principal levels (dependent on experience). These are two year fixed term appointments where you will play a central role in the delivery of our next industry price review and help shape our future work programmes.

Educated to degree or post-graduate level in a relevant discipline, it goes without saying that you’ll be highly numerate with strong analytical skills and knowledge of Excel but it’s your experience of developing and applying analytical frameworks to assess complex information that we’re also interested in. As part of our Analytics resource pool, you’ll be involved in understanding the accounting forecasts companies have made in their business plans, as well as testing the financeability of companies under our decisions and in different possible scenarios. You might have experience with financial markets or have worked with regulatory accounts – and we’re particularly interested in people who understand the cost of capital, how water companies raise finance, and/or the tax arrangements used by large infrastructure companies and group structures.

A team player, you’ll be at ease in our multi-disciplinary matrix structure, building the relationships necessary to ensure that objectives are achieved within your projects and drawing on your interpersonal abilities to communicate complex analyses and issues to non-technical audiences.

These roles are offered on up to a 2 year fixed term contract with a salary of £32,363 - £48,406 as a Senior Associate and £48,407 to £74,042 if joining us at Principal level. In addition, we offer a substantial benefits package including 25 days holiday plus 10 ½ bank holiday and privilege leave days per annum among other benefits. While you will be based from either our Birmingham or London office (please specify your preference at application) with a requirement to travel to the other office as required, we do operate a truly flexible and agile working culture with all of the IT/infrastructure (including a Surface Pro and iPhone 7) to enable you to work efficiently where and when needed.

This essential and high profile programme of work happens every 5 years and this is your chance to contribute your expertise to this cycle and help us to achieve great things within the water sector. Find out more about the project and the opportunities available here.

Interviews are planned to take place between 13 November – 01 December at both our Birmingham and London offices. If you’d like an informal chat or visit, we’d be happy to arrange and delighted to discuss these opportunities, please email
