Bookkeeper Job in Chelmsford working within an established Essex accountancy firm, suitable for a QBE accountant with strong Payroll experience.

Are you an experienced Bookkeeper looking for a varied role in a firm with a small and friendly team?

This Bookkeeper job in Chelmsford is suitable for a QBE/AAT Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a public practice accountancy firm managing multiple clients. The vacancy has arisen due to recent expansion and is a key support role, working within a busy and friendly team. The role involves 80% bookkeeping and 20% payroll work.

The Bookkeeper Job has excellent scope for progression with the capacity for the successful candidate to transition into an Accounts Assistant role.

This Essex based practice has a definite focus on SME’s and Family Business, providing a wide range of services across the compliance and advisory spectrum. The Chelmsford accountancy firm has a varied and growing client portfolio incorporating Sole Traders and Partnerships along with Limited companies with turnover of up to circa £6 mill. They now require a Bookkeeper with excellent communication skills and strong payroll exposure to support their client delivery team. 

The main responsibilities for this Bookkeeper Job will include;

  • Bookkeeping for a range of clients
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Resolving client queries
  • Processing roughly 30 weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Other ad hoc administration tasks 
  • Visiting clients’ premises
  • Use of Xero and Sage

Qualities required in the successful candidate are;

As the role will involve elevated levels of client contact and visits to client premises, the successful candidate must have confidence in communicating with people at all levels of seniority. Additionally, this Bookkeeper Job will require someone with a Full Driving license. Experience in using Xero would be a distinct advantage.
