Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 Per Annum (Dep on Exp)

The role is for a full-time bookkeeper/accountant who will be reporting to the Business Services Manager and the partners. From the start, the successful candidate will have a “hands on”  involvement in our busy Business Services department, gaining exposure to all areas of general bookkeeping and accounting support, servicing a wide range of clients who outsource their accounting requirements to Tudor John, including core bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and management accounting. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop within a highly professional environment as a practice bookkeeper/accountant covering all areas of client outsourcing.

Job Specification:

Responsibilities will include:

Responsibility for a portfolio of clients

Data entry for clients across a variety of accounting software products, including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Kashflow and Iris

Reconciling key controls including bank, sales and purchase ledgers, VAT and payroll

Posting and reviewing period end journals and nominal ledgers

Preparation of management accounts and related management information

Liaising directly with clients and developing good client relationships

Visiting client’s premises

Dealing with daily correspondence, telephone calls, emails etc. including:

  • Chasing outstanding information, returns and online filing
  • Registering clients (by paper and online) with HMRC
  • Handling inflow/outflow of client data and monitoring/managing client deadlines
  • Dealing with general client queries

Personal Specification:

Proven bookkeeping track record, preferably within a Practice environment

Previous experience of working with a range of accounting software, including Sage

Appropriate level of general accounting knowledge, preferably at least to TB level

Accuracy and attention to detail
Good maths skills

Good oral and written communication skills

Strong organisational skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
Flexible and adaptable
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages
