Are you a Junior Accountant who has had some initial exposure to general Accountancy & Personal Tax work and would really like to specialise in Personal Tax going forwards? Have you had some experience of preparing and filing Self-Assessment returns? 

We are seeking a bright and academic Junior Accountant with a flair for client care and a keen interest in Personal Tax matters, whom would love the opportunity to develop a career in Personal Tax.

This Tax Assistant job in King's Lynn is suitable for an AAT/ATT part qualified accountant with a minimum of 12 months' experience of working in a busy Accountancy Practice environment. The Tax Assistant Job would be equally suitable for someone in an existing Personal Tax role, or someone with a more general practice role wishing to move across into Tax. It presents an ideal opportunity to join a high-profile Norfolk accountancy firm with a proactive approach, and to gain full specialist training to progress into a more senior Tax role. 

The Personal Tax Assistant job involves working with clients in the wider Norfolk Region. You will be taking care of the Personal Tax affairs for Sole traders, Partnerships and Business Owners, with the bias being towards compliance. Our client, an employee – focused Norfolk Accountancy firm will support the successful Tax Assistant in gaining an AAT qualification and fulfilling their full potential. For the right Tax Accountant, our client will endeavour to progress the candidate through to delivering a full suite of Tax advisory services in time, making this an exceptionally desirable opportunity for an academic candidate looking to carve out a successful career in Personal Tax. 

This leading King's Lynn based accountancy firm has a reputation for its service excellence and boasts a client portfolio which includes a range of industries and business entities of all size. The service offering includes Business advisory as well as the more traditional Audit, Tax and Accountancy services. 

The main responsibilities for this Tax Assistant job include: 
• Assisting the Tax Manager with the completion of Self-Assessment Tax Returns 
• Completion of P11D forms
• Dealing with PAYE enquiries
• Liaison with HMRC
• Liaison with clients both on the phone and face to face (with support initially)
• Study towards the ATT qualification

To be successful in this role you will ideally need some basic experience of preparing personal tax computations. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and hard working with the ability to self-review. You should have effective communication skills (both written and verbal), and will also need to be highly IT literate (knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook essential). 

This is a high-volume role, and the successful Tax Assistant will be filing around 400 returns a year. You must therefore be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.
