Energy Aspects has been through four years of rapid growth, opening offices in London, New York and Singapore. Over the next 18 months we look to double our revenue and significantly increase our headcount. This means for the first time we will require a dedicated member of staff to manage the day to day financial requirements globally, with the support of our external accountancy firms. Most work will be for the UK business, with some data entry and reconciliation required for our smaller overseas subsidiaries.

As a small business, the successful candidate must be able to work across a range of disciplines and have the ability to find solutions to problems they may have never encountered before. This opportunity would suit a Financial Controller already enjoying working in-house for a growing SME or someone looking to leave practice and start a career in-house. We see this role growing within our organisation and envisage this person building a fantastic career with us.

Duties: The successful candidate’s duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Quarterly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Monthly close, including journal entries, reconciliation, and analysis
  • Accrual of subscription service sales
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Compliance with reporting and tax filings
  • Leading the process of monthly financial and management accounts, along with the annual statutory accounts preparation and VAT
  • Forecasting
  • Expenses and travel
  • Intercompany transactions
  • Interact with the company's firm of accountants
  • Hedge accounting for foreign currency
  • Utilise our accounting software (Xero) effectively

  • Strong financial accounting background supported ideally by a practice background
  • A fully qualified accountant with an ACA or ACCA
  • Strong communication skills to all levels in the organisation
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and drive change
  • Experience of international accountancy would be a distinct advantage
  • Prior experience of Xero would be an advantage
