Our client is a dynamic and growing, privately owned business based in the Centre of Hereford. They are a well-established company in which the highest quality of delivery has always been and remains the most important element of their success and has resulted in their superb reputation within the industry.

Following a reorganisation within the management, the business is now undergoing a period of change and seeks to appoint a Head of Business Services to join the Senior Management Team, whose focus now is to streamline, develop and improve the existing operation as well as to explore new and exciting growth opportunities.

The Head of Business Services will be responsible for all the financial and accounting within the business, IT and business & office administration. This role will be responsible for management as well as having hands-on involvement in the delivery of all day to day business support activities, ensuring that all areas are attentive to detail, timely, efficient and of commercial value.

You will be required to review current operations / procedures and to establish and manage best practice within all areas in your remit, and to lead the culture of change through your natural management and leadership style.  You will be responsible for leading and developing a small team and for mentoring and developing the in-house capability.  As well as the day to day element, the key to this role will be the proactive driving of change and improvement, provision of analysis and commercial support to all areas of the business. This will include reviews of systems, costs, margins and a significant input into the strategic direction of the business.  The role will be challenging and rewarding - you will be hands-on and will lead from the front. The day to day element will included statutory and management accounting, payroll and business administration.

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced manager and motivator of staff and will ideally have managed change. You will be an experienced accountant (ideally qualified), with experience having been gained within a commercial, structured and professional environment.

Key skills / experience

·         Commercial acumen

·         An Accountancy Qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or QBE

·         Change management

·         High self motivated

·         IT literacy, accounting specific & advanced in Excel

·         A sense of humour
