Students who study the Online AAT Level 3 and 4 Qualification will be able to develop their skills to an advanced level, exploring accountancy concepts in more detail and developing extensive knowledge and understanding of the industry. AAT accounting courses will provide you with an accredited route into the industry, particularly if you have little or no experience. If you have gained the AAT Level 2 qualification and you would like to progress your career, the Level 3 and 4 Diploma will allow you to complete the full AAT pathway while allowing you to develop specialist areas of knowledge. If you study the AAT combined diploma with us, you will be eligible for full AAT membership once qualified which can lead into a whole host of employment opportunities in the finance and accounting sector. The Level 4 qualification can also be a springboard toward your journey to full Chartered Accountancy status.

Courses are accessed through the Virtual Learning Campus, an online platform containing all the required learning materials to see you through the course. The VCL can be accessed on all internet-enabled devices, including tablet and mobile. The course will provide bite-size learning content, frequent live classes, regular learning checks and practice tests, and tutor support to monitor your progress. Courses includes 24-hour access the online campus, which is accessible on mobile and tablet; a course textbook; the online units outlined below; a tutor and community team; regular online live classes; revision classes; access to AVADO’s premium Career Development Hub; and a free NUS card offering a wide range of discounts to students.
The AAT combined Level 3 and Level 4 qualification will develop your skills to an advanced level while introducing some complex theories, concepts and procedures. Topics in this course will include the preparation of accounts and creation of financial statements. The AAT syllabus is delivered entirely online through a combination of activities and learning materials to ensure students get the most from their learning. The combined course features 15 units in total and students will need to complete 12 of these; six at Level 3 and nine at Level 4. The six units contained within the AAT Level 3 qualification include: Unit 1: Advanced Bookkeeping – Use a sub-divided accounting system to develop trial balances and conduct reconciliations as well as creating a valuation of inventory, preparing accounts for irrecoverable debts and understand how to dispose non-current assets. Unit 2: Final Accounts Preparation – Discover how to prepare accounts for a variety of different businesses, make accurate records of partnership changes and prepare final accounts even if records are incomplete Unit 3: Indirect Tax – Explore VAT legislation surrounding costs and learn the correct process for preparing a VAT return Unit 4: Management Accounting: Costing – Demonstrate how to create budget accounts in relation to business costs such as expenses, labour and materials and be able to forecast company revenues taking into consideration break even and limiting factors Unit 5: Ethics for Accountants – Learn the ethical guidelines applicable to accounting along with the relevant legislation Unit 6: Spreadsheets for Accounting – Be able to create complex spreadsheets for accounting using suitable formula and formatting practices This will bring you to the end of Level 3. Progression to Level 4 will enable you to study more complex topics. The Level 4 qualification includes nine units in total, but students are asked to complete six. Compulsory units include: Unit 1: Management Accounting: Budgeting – Polish your skills in budgetary control systems, learning how to formulate advanced budget reports Unit 2: Management Accounting: Decision and Control – Conduct analysis of business performance based on multiple variables and reconcile actual and budgeted costs. Unit 3: Financial Statements of Limited Companies – Prepare accurate financial statements which comply with regulatory frameworks. Unit 4: Accounting Systems and Controls – Explore how to create and manage company accounting systems and recommend improvements where required At the end of Unit 4 there are a further two units to complete but these enable you to choose an area of specialism. Students are asked to study two units out of a possible five: Optional units include:
  • Personal Tax – Process employee tax effectively
  • Business Tax – Familiarise yourself with the intricacies of business taxes
  • Cash and Treasury Management – Acquire in depth knowledge about cash flow patterns and forecasts
  • Credit Management – Develop your knowledge about company liquidity and credit control
  • External Auditing – Learn how the audit process functions and how to make a key contribution to the audit process
Throughout the combined AAT Level 3 and 4 Qualification you will have to complete several assessments. There are 11 formal examinations to sit in total. Nine of these will be computer based assessments and two will be synoptic examinations. All of the examinations will be held at an AAT approved centre.

Accounting can be a complex area and that’s why students enrolling on this course are asked to have some prior knowledge. To be eligible for enrolment on the combined Level 3 and Level 4 Qualification you must have passed the AAT Level 2 course or have an equivalent accounting qualification. Alternatively, you must have sufficient work experience to Level 3 standard to be accepted onto this course. In addition to the above, you must also:
  • Be over the age of 18 years
  • Have a good grasp of the English Language. If English is your second language an ITLTS 5.5 or higher is required
  • Have access to a computer and have access to the internet for the duration of their course
  • Be able to attend all UK examinations at an approved AAT centre
Students can pay for your course in a number of ways. Option 1 – Pay in full Option 2 – Split your course fees over two or three instalments with no additional charge Option 3 – Take out a finance option and pay for your course through a 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 or 60 month payment plan. This option is through our finance provider, Omni Capital with representative APR of 16.9%. Option 4 – AVADO can work with you to build a business case to make an application for employer funding.
The Online AAT Level 3 and 4 Qualification will provide students with a number of skills, teaching you everything you need to know to practice competently in the finance and accounting industry. Being able to demonstrate on your CV that you have completed the full AAT pathway will only serve to boost your career prospects, showing your ongoing commitment to professional development and a strong work ethic. Although there aren’t any further accounting courses once you reach Level 4, this qualification is an excellent foundation to progress onto Chartered Accountant Status.
