ACCA F1-F9 Qualifications – course syllabus

The combined F1-F9 papers will take you through nine sections in total covering the following:

  • F1 – Accountant in Business
  • F2 – Management Accounting

  • F5 – Performance Management
  • F6 – Taxation
  • F7 – Financial Reporting
  • F8 – Audit and Assurance
  • F9 – Financial Management

The nine papers outlined above will guide you through everything you need to know to work as a competent finance manager. As well as detailing professional skills and ethics, you will learn how accounting and business are closely linked and how a business can use effective financial management to develop and grow.

F1 Accountant in Business

This is the very first paper in the series and it will teach you everything you need to know about the association between finance, accounting and business. You will explore how accounting functions in today’s business and why it is so important for the efficient and effective management of an organisation.

F2 Management Accounting

In the second paper in this qualification, students will learn about the wider business environment and how this has an influence on organisational structure. The latter sections of the unit will discuss the role of accounting and other business functions and how they contribute to the ethical and efficient development of a business.

F3 Financial Accounting

The third paper in this qualification will explore a number of principles and concepts that relate to the process of financial accounting. Students will also learn about double entry accounting and how to prepare financial statements.

F4 Corporate and Business Law

Develop the know-how to apply legal frameworks to your day to day work and recognise the different legal areas which relate to your business.

F5 Performance Management

Understand how to apply management accounting techniques and to use quantitative and qualitative information to facilitate processes such as performance management, control, planning and decision making

F6 Taxation

Explore the various elements to the UK tax system and how it is applied to individuals, businesses and groups.

F7 Financial Reporting

Identify relevant accounting standards when preparing financial statements and demonstrate the knowledge to conduct analysis and interpretation

F8 Audit and Assurance

Develop a detailed understanding of the audit process, why it is required and how it is carried out.

F9 Financial Management

A skills-based module which will help you develop competency in a financial management role, focusing on investments, finances and policy decisions.
