There are worthy arguments on both sides of the debate. The Budget has clearly become something of a political showcase, and has resulted in some quite ill – thought out tax changes in recent years – IR35 and double tax relief in particular. But in its favour, there is the public scrutiny argument and the need for some sort of UK plc annual report.
But many love the Budget. The speculation, revelations and aftermath can be great fun.
Maybe this in itself makes the Budget worth keeping.
