Has the world overspent on the Y2K problem? A reader vehemently disagrees

You do your readers a disservice by publishing this trash. Comparing the IT hurdles modern countries face with technological backwater Bulgaria, Vietnam and Russia is a joke.

Hand-done calculations with paperand pencil as well as done by abacus aren’t likely to have too many Y2Kglitches.

Mr. Gantz should take a look at the scientific method before spouting suchirrelevant information. Comparing countries with similar MODERN levels oftechnology, one that diligently worked on Y2K issues and the other thatdidn’t would be the appropriate way to measure what amounts were ‘wasted’ onY2K.

The fact that only minor problems have cropped up so far is a testament tothe hard work of IT staffers around the world.
