XERO has appointed Paul Bulpitt, co-founder of accountancy firm The Wow Company, as its first head of accounting in the UK, the accounting software provider has confirmed.
In the newly-created post, Bulpitt will be working for Xero on a part-time advisory basis, while also continuing his day-to-day management of The Wow Company, which he helped found in 2004.
Part of his remit is representing the views of the community to Xero’s internal teams, while he will also be charged with conveying the profession’s requirements to legislators and decision-makers.
Bulpitt said: “Joining Xero provides me with the opportunity to make a difference to hundreds of thousands of business owners across the UK. It’s refreshing, but not surprising, that Xero invite external input into the business to ensure they capture the needs of customers – and this appointment is real evidence of that.
“Because I run a fast growing accountancy practice, The Wow Company, I’m in a great position to be able to provide insight to Xero as to what business owners and their accountants need. I can’t wait to get started.”
Xero UK managing director Gary Turner added: “We wouldn’t be able to continually innovate without the insights we get from the UK’s accounting and bookkeeping community.
“Having Paul on board as an independent adviser, advocating the views of the community from the front line will give us vital additional insights, enabling us to continue to deliver the best products and overall experience we can.”
Earlier this month, Xero launched a redesigned version of its Touch app for Android as it seeks to meet Google’s material design standards.
