BDO anti-fraud experts join PKF Littlejohn

Jim Gee's team of three to provide anti-fraud and forensic services to clients, and those of the PKF network

A TEAM of BDO heavy-hitters has joined PKF Littlejohn to head up a new counter-fraud team.

Jim Gee has joined the top 20 firm to drive the its counter-fraud services, and will work with new senior managers and former BDO staff members Martin Moore and Andy Whittaker. The experienced trio have 100 years’ experience in anti-fraud and forensics services between them.

Gee is visiting professor of the Centre for Counter Fraud Studies at the University of Portsmouth. He is a former CEO of the NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service and has advised three Secretaries of State, five Ministers and the Attorney-General.

Moore is a former head of economic crime for Humberside Police, and Whittaker is chair of the Counter Fraud Professional Accreditation Board Training and Education Committee, and a former director of Counter Fraud Training for the NHS.

Carmine Papa, PKF Littlejohn managing partner, said that fraud issues had “increased in perception” among its insurance company and charity clients. “It’s becoming more and more important to clients and the market as a whole,” said Papa.

“This was too good an opportunity to miss – we can sell to our clients and through the PKF network,” he told Accountancy Age. “Nearly every organisation of any size suffers from fraud. Jim’s team helps businesses pre-emptively to reduce it rather than wait for it to be discovered,” he added.

Gee said that a measurement the total financial cost of fraud can be made, with the firm ready to drive down the cost for clients. “If you can measure a problem you can manage it…we’re uniquely equipped to cut that cost,” said Gee.
