FRC appoints new director of accounting and reporting
Anthony Appleton, a director from BDO's financial reporting advisory team, joins the FRC
A DIRECTOR from BDO’s financial reporting advisory team is to join the FRC as its new director of accounting and reporting, the accountancy watchdog said.
Anthony Appleton, a member of the FRC’s accounting council since May 2013, is replacing Michelle Sansom who is leaving to work as a project director at the IASB. He will take up his position at the FRC in January.
He will work with Melanie McLaren, executive director, codes and standards on influencing the development of international financial reporting standards fit for UK needs and continue work on UK GAAP.
McLaren said:”Anthony joins the FRC at an important time as we seek improvements in international financial reporting standards, playing a full part in the international and European process, and implementing once in a generation changes to UK and Irish GAAP.”
The FRC is also searching for a new director of strategy after Mridul Hegde unexpectedly resigned from the position after less than a year in the role.
