Doncaster Borough Council introduces Advanced Business Solutions IT system as it replaces existing fragmented finance technology
DONCASTER BOROUGH COUNCIL IS INTRODUCING an integrated procurement and financial management system from Advanced Business Solutions as the authority looks to slash £109m from its bills.
The system includes Advanced’s finance, procurement, budgeting, forecasting and electronic document management technology and is set to be used by 1,000 employees.
Advanced Business Solutions’ partner division, Advanced 365, has secured the contract to host the new system in a deal worth more than £1m.
It was selected following a competitive tendering process and will replace a fragmented IT structure with one single system, with the intention of allowing staff to work more efficiently.
Doncaster Borough Council assistant director for finance and performance Steve Mawson said: “The council is embarking on a major programme of modernisation and efficiency, where we are looking to save millions of pounds over a three-year period.
“We conducted a number of IT reviews and it was obvious we needed a better system to improve our overall performance. One of the biggest drivers we had was to exert more control over spend by being able to access key information in real time.”
