    Edinburgh Fringe Festival venue settles tax dispute with HMRC

    Summerhall, a venue used during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, resolves a tax dispute with HMRC

    A VENUE used during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has resolved a tax dispute with HM Revenue & Customs, Herald Scotland reports.

    In August, the taxman lodged a petition with Edinburgh Sheriff Court requesting an order that the company that runs the venue, Summerhall Management, be wound up and for the court to appoint a liquidator.

    HMRC‘s original petition stated that Summerhall Management was told by letter on 11 July that it owed a total of £202,848.

    The issues have now been resolved, while it is understood the unpaid monies are the result of a “mix-up” connected to the expansion of the venue.
