FORMER VANTIS PARTNER Richard Messik has launched an internet-based service to help accountants and businesses understand internet software.
He has teamed up with online accountancy technology supplier, D2C’s CEO David Terrar, to create Cloud Advocates.
It consists of a collection of consulting companies that aims to help accountants understand how to utilise online software in their practices.
Messik (pictured) said: “Cloud computing is definitely at a tipping point in the UK, but the providers and experts speak too much jargon and spend too much time on definitions, technical issues and highlighting the potential negatives.
“We started Cloud Advocates to explain the benefits in plain English and focus on the practical steps for a business or practice to make use of the best cloud applications and tools.”
Chartered accountant Messik initially joined his father’s practice Bellman Messik. It later merged with Jayson Newman which became one of the three founding practices of Numerica. This subsequently rebranded to Vantis, where Messik took charge of IT.
Last year he left the firm to join online financial software business e-conomic as an advisory board chairman, and formed his own consultancy RFM Associates.
Terrar currently runs the D2C, which supplies to the ICAEW, is a director of EuroCloud, and is on the Cloud Industry Forum’s governance board. Previously he has held senior roles at IBM and Coda (now UNIT4).
Cloud Associates is a free website however, advice from the consultants listed, will incur a charge.
