Poll reveals public regards taxman the worst for billing accuracy

THE WORST organisation for getting bills wrong is HM Revenue & Customs, according to a poll.

The research comes from YouGov and uSwitch and points to the six million PAYE bills HMRC got wrong last year which prompted 5.7 million letters notifying taxpayers of over or under payments.

Second in the poll were energy companies.

Anne Robinson, uSwitch director of consumer policy, is reported in the Financial Times saying that households are at the “blunt end” of poor billing accuracy.
