Deloitte has recruited Ernst & Young's former XBRL leader Josef Macdonald, and former BP global tax technology leader Fiona Jones
Deloitte has recruited two senior people from both BP and rival Ernst & Young to join its tax management consultancy practice.
Fiona Jones, from BP, takes on the position of associate partner and Josef Macdonald joins as a director from E&Y.
Macdonald was previously XBRL leader for E&Y – a computer language for tagging tax information on reports. He also led the International Accounting Standards Board’s (IASB) XBRL team from 2003 – 2007. Macdonald continues to sit on the IASB’s advisory panel and the XBRL International Steering Committee.
Jones held a number of senior roles at BP including leading its global tax technology network.
Alan MacPherson, head of the tax management consulting group at Deloitte, highlighted the importance of reporting to increase transparency and risk management.
“This is especially pertinent at the moment with the introduction of mandatory iXBRL e-filing in under five months time and the pressure is on for businesses to decide on their iXBRL approach,” he said.
