PwC liquidators take on Goldtrail Travel from former Begbies Traynor administrators
PwC administrators have been appointed as liquidators of collapsed travel business Goldtrail Travel.
The budget tour operator entered administration on 16 July with Mark Fry and Jamie Taylor from Begbies Traynor, named administrators.
Creditors voted at a meeting in September to place the business in liquidation.
Rob Hunt and Ian Oakley-Smith of PwC were subsequently appointed liquidators of Goldtrail Travel this week.
Oakley-Smith, director at PwC, said: “We have been appointed by the creditors, largely to understand the reasons behind the company’s failure at the start of the summer holidays, traditionally not a time when tour operators or travel agents fail.”
The liquidators will be holding a creditor meeting later this year.
Quickstep Leisure, a subsidiary of Goldtrail Travel, was also placed in administration, on 19 July. This business will remain in administration with Begbies Traynor continuing as administrators.
