Audit Commission suspends search for chief executive

The search for a new cheif executive at the Audit Commission has been put on
hold after the government blocked the salary package of £240,000, according to
the Daily Telegraph.

The salary was vetoed local government minister Eric Pickles who claimed it
was against the “spirit” of austerity in public spending.

The commission said interim CEO Eugene Sullivan would remain in place for the
foreseeable future.
