Supermarket chain J Sainsbury has appointed John Rogers as its CFO with
current finance chief Darren Shapland moving into the group development director
position.
Shapland will continue with the business’ growth plans and will further
develop its bank – where he is chairman – and property divisions.
His successor John Rogers is the current property developer on the operating
board.
Rogers was previously director of group finance at the company from 2007 to 2008
and prior to that was director of corporate finance from 2005. Prior to J
Sainsbury, Rogers was group finance and strategy director at investment company
Hanover Acceptances for six years.
David Tyler, chairman at J Sainsbury, said: “I am delighted to welcome John
Rogers to the plc board. He brings a wealth of financial and strategic
experience to the plc team and has done an excellent job in the last two years
in helping to build one of the retail industry’s biggest property pipelines.
“His appointment reflects the exceptional pool of talent that Sainsbury’s has
developed over the last five years”.
Rogers’ base salary is expected to be £425,000.
