The chief financial officer at investment giant AllianceBernstein is stepping
down from his role, which he has held since 1994.
Robert Joseph is to relinquish his CFO role effective immediately but he will
continue to work with AllianceBernstein in a senior advisory role before leaving
the company completely at the end of the year.
Joseph, who has had a 25-year career at AllianceBernstein and its
predecessor, is succeeded by an external candidate John Howard.
Howard was previously CFO at AQR Capital Management and in the last year took
on the additional role of chief operating officer.
Prior to that he held numerous senior positions at Knight Capital Group
Europe based in both New York and London.
Peter S Kraus, chairman and CEO of AllianceBernstein, said: “I would like to
thank Bob Joseph for his more than 25 years of dedicated service to
AllianceBernstein, during which he made innumerable contributions to the firm’s
success.
“With great skill and knowledge, he presided over the financial complexities
of the combination of Alliance Capital and Sanford C Bernstein in 2000, as well
as our firm’s dramatic international expansion in recent years.”
This is the first senior management change since Kraus took over as CEO in
2008.
