Survey finds knowledge of international standards increasing in US
More US accountants are familiar with international standards, compared with
two years ago and more than half want the US to adopt international accounting
rules, according to an industry survey.
A survey found, by the
American
Institute of CPAs, found knowledge of International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) among accountants had increased,
The
Journal of Accountancy reports.
In 2008 about two thirds of members reported no familiarity with IFRS. That
number has now dropped to 15%.
The survey also found 60% believe the US Securities and Exchanges Commission
should require IFRS adoption.
