Preston North End tackled by taxman

Preston North End in £435,000 PAYE late payment wrangle with the taxman after avoiding a winding-up petition

Preston North End football club is embroiled in a £435,000 dispute with the
taxman.

The club said a winding-up petition served by HM Revenue & Customs had
been shelved after it had addressed older disputes, but a wrangle over PAYE
still remained.

The taxman has now issued a letter informing the club of further legal action
because it had failed to make the PAYE payment for May 2010, which fell due on
19 June.
