Taxed for being too tall
Mother criticises the VAT rules, which tack on 17.5% for kids aged 14 and older
A mum has attacked the VAT rules for penalising tall children.
Zena Keddie has to fork out £30 more than other parents because her 12-year
old daughter is tall for her age, requiring teenager’s clothes,
the Metro reported.
VAT is charged on the clothes of 14-year olds and above, but is zero-rated
below that threshold.
