Stephen Oldfield and Mike Gercke, joint administrative receivers to steel supplier Philip Quantrill Structural Engineers, said the firm had been sold to SCWS, a Dereham-based engineering company.

Oldfield said that, since his appointment last month, he had been acutely aware of the importance of the car park to Norfolk.

‘I am really pleased to be able to announce the sale of the business to SCWS today, which has preserved the majority of jobs at Quantrills and has allowed the seamless transfer of the business protecting the St Andrews project from any severe disruption,’ he said.

It is understood 46 of the 60 jobs at the firm have been preserved.
