A new regulatory body has been recommended for the accountancy profession in the Republic of Ireland. The new body has been proposed by the Dial’s Public Accounts Committee after it undertook hearings into the widespread evasion of deposit interest retention tax. A further 80 recommendations have also be presented including tighter controls in relations between accountants and the companies which they audit.
