Deloitte and Touche UK says it will complete its 'acquisition' of Andersen UK in the next few weeks after receiving approval from the European Commission in a deal which will make it the country's second largest accounting firm.
Hours after receiving approval for the transaction, senior partner John Connolly said the firm was preparing to implement its plans to bring together both companies’ services.
He said: ‘We are absolutely delighted with this decision. It paves the way for us to complete our transaction, which we expect to do within the next few weeks.’
‘We now have a real opportunity to develop a distinctive professional services firm.
UK managing partner John Ormerod said the decision was ‘great news’ and promised the firms would work quickly toward integrating the two companies.
‘Our clients have been hugely supportive and loyal throughout this challenging period and we are pleased that so many of them have the opportunity to benefit from this decision,’ Ormerod added.
