    Pay boost for accountant

    Britain’s wealthiest accountant, Stagecoach executive chairman Brian Souter, saw his pay package rise by 11.3% to £651,000 last year, according to the company’s preliminary results published last week.

    Stagecoach is now the UK’s biggest transport group, operating 12,000 buses and coaches globally and 4,000 UK rail units. According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the Arthur Andersen-trained Souter, who founded the company in 1980, is the 22nd richest person in the country with a shared fortune of £850m.
