Customs reinstates VAT refunds for Iraqis
Iraqi travellers who take goods home from the UK will benefit from a Customs & Excise decision to reinstate VAT refunds.
Retail Export Scheme have been instructed that all Iraqi nationals should be ‘treated the same way as any other entitled travellers using the scheme’.
Previously, Iraqi travellers had their refund forms withdrawn at their point of departure. It follows the removal of the Iraqi government and easing of UN sanctions that were put in place in 1990.
