Deloitte man to head up US institute
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has appointed William Ezzell, a partner at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, as its new chairman.

He takes over the one-year post from James Castellano and said the theme of his chairmanship would be the restoration of the reputation of the accounting profession.
‘There is no excuse for failing to live up to the standards of the profession,’ he said. ‘We all know we can do everything right and still not do the right thing.’
The AICPA, the leading professional body in the US, has lost some of its Washington lobbying power in the wake of the accounting scandals of the last 18 months.
