    Royal assent for a merged Inland Revenue and Customs department is expected to be given tomorrow, Accountancy Age has learned.

    The so-called Commissioners for Revenue and Customs bill received its third reading in the House of Lords last night and passed through with no problems.

    It has now returned to the Commons where it will receive its final reading before receiving royal assent on Thursday.

    The two departments have moved far closer together since the proposed merger was announced in last year’s Budget.
