PAC chairman in hospital after suspected heart attack
Public Accounts Commission Chairman Robert Sheldon, chairman ofthe committee on standards and privileges, is critically ill inhospital with a suspected heart attack.
The former Public Accounts Committee Chairman and FinancialSecretary in the Callaghan Labour Government was rushed to StThomas’s Hospital by ambulance after collapsing in a LondonPark.
The 76-year-old Ashton under Lyne MP’s wife Mary was said to beat his side in the intensive care unit where he was ‘seriouslyill.’
The suspected attack occurred the day his committee brought outtheir report recommending suspending Tory MP Teresa Gorman fromParliament for a month for failing to register lucrativebusiness interests.
He is understood to have been found collapsed by a passer-by whocalled the ambulance.
