PwC praised for social responsibility
PricewaterhouseCoopers has beaten its rivals to win the accolade for its policy on corporate social responsibility.
PWC’s triumph will come as a blow to Big Five rival KPMG which prides itself on its internal and external efforts on social responsibility.
Analysis by the International Business Leaders Forum showed that PwC performed consistently better in a cross-comparison of 11 major firms. KPMG did however fare well.
In contrast, IBLF found ‘little or no evidence’ of any activity in eight of the 13 CSR activities at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
With six of the firms offering CSR-related advisory services to its clients, IBLF voiced concerns that some of the firms risked being accused of not practising what they preach.
The IBLF concluded however that ‘no firm has yet constructed a strategic appraoch that is both well integrated into everything the firm does and holistic in its coverage of issues.’
The Forum urged the firms to work more closely together to improve their performance in this area.
