FD buys ?190,000 worth of Cable & Wireless shares

Strong results see directors pour millions into telecom

Cable & Wireless finance director Tony
Rice has invested more than ?190,000 of his own money in the telecom after it
beat forecasts.

The
company revealed earnings up 20% to ?492m.

Rice bought 100,000 shares at 190.2p increasing his stake in the business to
?3.1m.
He joined other directors who pumped money into the group – chairman Richard
Lapthorne and group managing director John Pluthero purchased more than ?1.3m
worth of shares.

Rice has been a heavy investor in the telecom this year. In January he
acquired 300,000 shares at 160p each.
