Grant Thornton to audit owner of Rangers FC

Mid-tier firm sees off Big Four rivals for Scottish contract

Grant Thornton has been appointed as auditor for Scottish conglomerate
Murray
International Holdings Group
, owners of
Glasgow Ranger Football
Club.

The firm beat off competition from two of the Big Four accountancy firms –
Deloitte and KPMG – for the contract.

Earlier this Grant Thornton announced plans to expand north of the Border in
a bid to take on Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Deloitte will continue to audit the
Murray Group’s private equity
division
