    Oracle to acquire BEA Systems

    Oracle and BEA Systems agree to $8.5bn deal

    Oracle is to acquire BEA Systems in an $8.5bn (£4.3bn) deal that will vastly
    enhance the Oracle’s Fusion middleware software suite.

    This transaction will accelerate the adoption of Java-based middleware
    technologies and service-orientated architecture, increase market share in
    emerging markets such as China and advance innovation in enterprise applications
    infrastructure software.

    The BEA deal follows Oracle’s key acquisition of Hyperion last year.
