Former Deloitte partner joins SMG board

As part of a boardroom shake-up at Scottish
Media Group, owner of Scotland’s two main ITV franchises and
Virgin Radio, has appointed former
Deloitte senior partner David Shearer as a non-executive director.
Shearer already sits on the board of
HBOS and was previously senior partner of
Deloitte & Touche for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
His appointment came as the group stunned markets by abandoning its proposed
merger with UTV and instead unveiled wholesale change in the boardroom, with a
new chief executive and chairman.
Rob Woodward, the former commercial director of Channel 4, has been appointed
chief executive, and Richard Findlay, former chief executive of Scottish Radio
Holdings, becomes chairman.
