Institute of Fiscal Studies to launch review into the UK tax system

The Institute of Fiscal Studies is launching a review into the UK’s tax
system.

The review will be headed by Professor Sir James Mirrlees of the University
of Cambridge.

IFS director Robert Chote said there was a need for a review of the system,
according to the Financial Times.

Recent issues affecting tax include globalisation and the mobility of
capital, while flat taxes have been introduced in several emerging economies.

Partly funded by the Nuffield Foundation, the report is aimed primarily at
the UK.
