Sainsbury's has appointed the group finance director of Emap as a non-executive director to its Board.

Hughes (42) will join the Audit Committee and become its chairman towards the end of 2005.
He is joined by Bob Stack (54), chief human resources officer of Cadbury Schweppes, who will chair the Sainsbury’s Remuneration Committee from the date of his appointment.
Both will join the J Sainsbury plc Board with effect from 1 January 2005.
Philip Hampton, chairman of Sainsbury’s said, ‘Bob and Gary are both very highly regarded in their respective professional fields and have valuable experience in consumer-facing industries. They have a breadth of skills that will complement those of the existing team.’
