Carbon offsets – accountants’ next big challenge
A survey shows an overwhelming majority of finance professionals believe accountants will calculate carbon offsets

JustAccountancyJobs.com
has found an overwhelming majority of finance professionals, at 85%, believe an
accountant will eventually be calculating carbon offsetting at their firm.
This is in contast to only 11% who are currently involved in calculating
carbon offsets.
‘Carbon offsetting is accountancy’s next big challenge and developing the
skill set needed to navigate this exciting new field could be make-or-break in
an accountant’s career,’ Sacha Deakin, JustAccountancyJobs.com account manager,
said.
‘Not only are accountants becoming more aware of the need to protect the
planet – they are starting to realise that they will have a crucial role to
play.’
